Norwex - Vegetable and Fruit Cloth

Have you ever attended a Norwex party?

Home parties are usually "not my thing".  I enjoy the food and company, but what if I don't really want to buy something? There's always that feeling of obligation...

Anyway, several years ago, I DID attend a Norwex home party and picked up this little item - sure glad I did.  It's for cleaning vegetables and fruits without chemicals.  This youtube video tells you all about it.  My cloth has had a lot of use and is still in great shape so a few weeks ago, when there was another party, I picked up a couple more to give to my daughters.

IMHO...
Just thought I'd share,

Unscented Honey Creme

Empty!

Hopefully...

sometime soon...

before too long...

I'll have a chance to visit Calgary.

To be more specific, I'll have a chance to revisit The Beehive, a neat little store in Kensington where I can buy some more Unscented Honey Creme.

This is seriously good stuff!  If you have dry skin, if your legs, feet, hands, elbows are flaky and itchy, try this product.  It'll make a difference.

In my humble (totally unsolicited) opinion,
Maggie

# 86 Two great gadgets from Oxo

Oxo tools make a difference.  It's so frustrating working with a gadget that's uncomfortable or doesn't do the job.
Oxo Good Grips Peeler

My Oxo Good Grips peeler is at least 15 years old.  Still looks like new, works like a charm, fits my hand well and I can peel potatoes until the cows come home!  (No cows involved...just an expression!)

Oxo Small Scoop
My latest gadget is an Oxo cookie scoop. I chose the smallest of three sizes.

It easily handled making Soft Ginger Snaps (sticky, soft dough) and also my Chocolate Chip Shortbread (firm dough).  Uniform shape and size, quick and clean - great tool : )

(This is an unsolicited opinion.)

# 85 Rogers Porridge Oats...yum!

Just want to share a great "new to me" product we found in the cereal aisle...

Rogers Porridge Oats...

...oat flakes, oat bran, wheat bran, flaxseed...period.

No additives.

High fibre.

Compared to regular cooked oatmeal, I would use the adjective "rustic"...in a tasty way.

Have it as porridge, like we have each morning:

1/3 cup oats
2/3 cup water

Microwave for 2 - 3 minutes, stirring once.
Add a dollop of yogurt and sliced banana.

Or...

You can use it when making my (favourite) oatmeal muffins... the oat and wheat bran and flaxseed = "good stuff"!

# 57 L'Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream

What can I say?  I love this cream by L'Occitane en Provence.   With dry skin in a dry climate, I work hard at keeping my hands moisturized, especially in winter. It goes on smoothly and isn't greasy.  I react to perfumes but find I can tolerate the very mild scent.

I also love their soaps.  My favourite? The Shea Butter Extra Gentle - Milk soap.  It has virtually no scent - perfect for me. Verbena has a stronger, citrus scent so I use it in the kitchen.

Fairly pricey and a bit of an indulgence, but a great gift for someone special.

NOTE: These are my own (unsolicited) opinions.

# 22 Handy item for the kitchen...

Today I'm a busy girl, finishing laundry, catching up on emails and organizing cupboards.

No lollygagging, as my grandmother would say!

lollygag |ˈlɒlɪgag| (also lallygag)
verb ( -gagged, -gagging) [ intrans. ] informal
spend time aimlessly; idle : he sends her to Arizona every January to lollygag in the sun.
dawdle : we're lollygagging along.
ORIGIN mid 19th cent.: of unknown origin.

In the kitchen, I've been gradually tidying up my pantry with the help of this product:

As I buy spaghetti sauce, etc., I've been using these plastic lids (Canadian Tire, Safeway) and recycling the jars to store rice, barley, lentils, etc.

Try them!  : )

# 19 Three Tasty Teas

"As far as her mom was concerned, tea fixed everything.
Have a cold?  Have some tea.  Broken bones?
There's a tea for that too.
Somewhere in her mother's pantry, Laural suspected,
was a box of tea that said, 'In case of Armageddon,
steep three to five minutes."

- Aprilynne Pike, Illusions

One month before
My sixth birthday,
Sitting beside my mother
On an airplane,
Late at night.

Flying
To Canada!
A new life for our family.
Exciting!
An adventure!

My mother, bent over, crying,
Her tears confused me.
Flight attendants hovered.
I asked her
If she wanted a cup of tea.

# 7 Who's George?

George is someone you need to meet!  Seriously!

If you're looking for a "no nonsense, I gotta do something about this problem" kind of cream, this is it.  A very rich moisturizing cream, it's perfect for dry, cold climates.  It lasts longer than other creams I've tried and handles (pun intended!) frequent handwashing, if you're in that kind of job.  In addition, there are no additives and it's fragrance free!

Created by George Doherty, a Calgary pharmacist, this cream is  available across Canada. There is also a lighter version called George's Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Check their website for locations: www.georgescream.com

Ginger Beer

Wonderful day yesterday!  It truly felt like the first day of summer.  To celebrate Mother's Day, we had a great meal, gathered around the BBQ.  I'm not a beer drinker, but I really enjoyed trying Royal Jamaican Ginger Beer for the first time.  If you're expecting beer, you'll probably be disappointed, but if you enjoy tall, cold drinks that aren't too sweet, you might like this one.  It definitely has a strong ginger taste.  This one is 5% alcohol.

PS....At Superstore, you can get a non-alcoholic Jamaican ginger beer that is also quite good.
